"CONGRATULATIONS”
to
Zoe Maxwell (Virginia) & Travis Robbie (Southport)
FOR WINNING THE COVETED 2019 INVINCIBLES
IGA SUNSHINE COAST JUNIOR MASTERS CHAMPIONSHIP
It gave the committee of The Invincibles Tour, and four of Queensland finest golf courses in Peregian Golf Course, Twin and Pelican Waters Golf Clubs, and Noosa Springs Golf and Spa Resort, a great deal of pleasure to host the sixteenth running of The Invincibles IGA Junior Masters Championship, where our juniors were tested to the max and were more than capable of getting the job done!
As Travis Robbie) would testify, as he put in a brilliant effort to finish with rounds of 75-75-70-71=291, eight shots clear of Daniel Cho who finished on 73-74-76-76=299 which wasn’t a true indication in how close the top five boys were throughout the championship.
The girls division was also a very tight battle throughout the Championship, but early in the final round Zoe Maxwell (Virginia) found and extra gear right when she needed it to finish with rounds of 72-70-80-74=296 to finish five shots clear of Kay Shannan (Gailes) who came home strongly with rounds of 74-79-77-71=301, which again wasn’t a true indication of just how hard fort the girls division was.

The Invincibles IGA Sunshine Coast Junior Masters Championship is a unique Championship, a championship that is played over four days, on four magnificently presented and different courses that all throw up their own set of challenges, which is something that doesn’t happen anywhere else in Australia as far as we know, which lends itself to being very exciting days of competitive golf!
It was fantastic to receive such positive feedback from the parents and juniors that participated, in the way the Championship was run, as there is an enormous amount of work that goes into events like this, and that includes the input and support of our juniors and their parents, our clubs, sponsors and the media.
The Tour would like to thank you all for making our championship the great success it was!
It is hard to believe why anyone would rather be anywhere else, than contesting their home-grown Masters Championship whilst enjoying the facilities and surrounds of four of the countries, finest golf courses and the company of their Tour team mates and friends.
Even though mother nature played a big part in round three of our Master’s Championship this year, when overnight storms dropped some 120mm of rain over the Sunshine Coast, it didn’t deter anyone as they made the most of what turned out to be perfect conditions to host our championship.

It's fair to say that our 2019 Masters was a great success, for a lot of different reasons, not the least being the trust and support that we received from four very generous managers in Daniel Morrison (Peregian Golf Course) Steve Hutchison (Twin Waters) Andrew Kenny (Pelican Waters) and Mark Brady (Noosa Springs Golf and Spa) and their incredibly supportive teams in the Pro Shops, Catering, along with their Bar and Ground staff who collectively did a brilliant job to make sure our championship ran smoothly.
As is always the case, nothing was too much trouble to them, but most importantly, we would like to thank all concerned for making our championship the great success it was, and for making everyone feel so welcome.
Events like our Masters Championship don’t just happen, they happen, because people like these four very generous men above, care enough to make sure they happen, because they, like all of us would like to see The Invincibles Tour grow and the game of golf flourish “in particular junior golf” and that’s something we’d like to think none of us take for granted, because if it wasn’t for these very generous men, their organisations and others like them, our Tour wouldn’t exist!
A major highlight over the four days, was witnessing an even mix of girls and boys competing together at the Masters, which was a first and one can only hope that this is a positive sign moving forward!
It gave The Tour an enormous buzz and added a fantastic atmosphere to our Championship, to see past members and their families come to support The Masters, which all added to the atmosphere and the occasion.

Also, to witness men like past Invincibles member and close friend Charlie Dann “now Touring Professional” come along to caddie for a very lucky Caitlyn Wheatley (Noosa Springs – p1 above) was a brilliant sight to see and again, a true indication into how men like Charlie, and many others perceive the value of The Invincibles Tour!
There’s no doubting that the parents play a huge part in “The Tour” but when it comes to our Major Events and Championships, they go that extra yard by helping as Mobile Scorers, Caddies, and Spotters, or in any way they can to make sure our events create a positive, fun, and friendly environment, where everyone enjoys the moment, and that’s something we really do appreciate.
And one can’t go past the competitors themselves (our juniors) for the way they handled themselves (particularly this year when they were put under enormous pressure) they played in the true spirit of the game as their sportsmanship and demeanour both on and off the was just brilliant and a pleasure for everyone concerned to be associated with.

Day One: Saw the Tour head to Peregian Golf Course where our Masters couldn’t have been played in better conditions for those that were lucky enough to contest the championship, where, our juniors pushed each other to their limits as the scores would indicate. To have no fewer than four of Queensland’s finest junior golfers tied together at the top of the Masters leader board after Day 1 is quite incredible, and they included Cooper Clarke (Noosa) Dhiya Rampersad (Pacific) Zoe Maxwell (Virginia) and Baxter Smith (Bribie Island - pictured from left to right - p1 above) who all finished tied together on 72 gross, which all leads to a very exciting day 2 at Twin Waters.

Day two saw our juniors head to Twin Waters, where they were treated to what were perfect conditions and a magnificently presented course, so there couldn’t be any excuses, and there certainly weren’t any from joint overnight leader in the girls division, Zoe Maxwell (Virginia) who carded a fantastic two under par 70.
The boy’s division remains a very tight affair between overnight leaders Cooper Clarke (Noosa) and Baxter Smith (Bribie Island – pictured with Zoe) who retain their leads with hard fought 74’s, to put them in the final pairing tomorrow with Daniel Cho (Indooroopilly) just one shot back, breathing down the necks ready to pounce in the second last group!
A major highlight for the large gallery sitting behind the eighteenth green, was witnessing Poppy Harrington (Redland Bay) chip in for eagle and an even par round of 72.
Other highlights during round two included: Ben Duncombe’s putt from off the third green for birdie, James Riseley’s approach and putt on 5 for birdie, and on the same hole Juhi Rampersad’s approach to five to within 3cm’s for a tap in birdie, Lydia Shackell’s and Daniel Cho’s chip in for birdies on 9 along with Baxter Smith brilliant birdie putt to have three birdies and a par in the group, with Caitlin Vanderkruk recording a par.
Other highlights included Zoe Maxwell’s drive on 11 to set up a three-meter birdie, Lydia Shackell’s birdies on the very tough 16 and 17 holes, and Amy Hodgkin’s brilliant four meter putt on 18 for birdie to bring a smile to her face and to everyone watching on, which were just a few of the many highlights during day two of The Invincibles Junior Masters!

Day Three: What a difference a day makes, after two perfect days for golf at Peregian and Twin Waters G.C, mother nature decided to play her part in proceedings heading into the third round, dropping in excess of 120mm of overnight torrential rain and lightning hitting the Sunshine Coast with vengeance. Enough to put the bunkers out of play and preferred lies which wasn’t ideal, but it was fantastic to see everyone rally around to make the most of what weren’t ideal conditions.

Day four: Saw The Tour head to Noosa Springs Golf & Spa Resort who had their course and facilities set up in magnificent condition, on what was the perfect day weatherwise “it was just picture perfect” to host the final round of our Junior Masters Championship, where our juniors made the most of the conditions to enjoy their golf.
Congratulations to Zoe Maxwell (Virginia) and Travis Robbie (Southport) on their brilliant performances in winning The Invincibles 2019 IGA Sunshine Coast Junior Masters Championship, that was hosted by Peregian Golf Course, Twin Waters, Pelican Waters and Noosa Springs Golf & Spa Resort from the 29th of September to the 2nd of October, where Zoe was joint leader or leader from day one with rounds of 72-70-80-74=296.
All up I was happy with the way I played, Zoe said. Days one and two were just perfect, that got me off to a good start, but the overnight storms that came in at Pelican made things a bit tough, but I was pleased with the way I handled it.
The final round here at Noosa Springs was just perfect, what a brilliant venue and way to finish the Masters, Zoe went on to say.

The boy’s nett division went to Baxter Smith with rounds of 69-71-77-71=288 who was very surprised to win an award, I didn’t really expect it he said.

A major highlight for the championship was witnessing the friendship and comradery that was on display between our juniors and the parents, and the sportsmanship that was displayed, was just magical and really makes for a fantastic atmosphere.
Another major highlight on day four was the pace of play “Brilliant” for all contestants to be in within four hours and five minutes was exceptional and certainly makes for a much more pleasant day for everyone!
Other highlights during round four were: Tyler Quaill’s approach to the second that hit the flagstick and 20cm from the hole for a tap in birdie and followed that up with another birdie on 3, Josh Holbrook’s birdie on 3, Liam Dawson’s brilliant tee shot and putt on 4 for birdie, followed up with another on 5, Dhiya Rampersad’s run of birdies on 5, 6 and 7 after sinking a massive five metre putt, Approach shots from Poppy Harrington and Mia Lines and putts on 12 for birdies, James Riseley’s approach to 18 to set up a birdie and Baxter Smiths monster eighteen metre put on 18 in front of a huge gallery to record a well-received birdie, which were just a few of the many highlights during day four of The Invincibles Junior Masters!
The Tour on behalf of everyone that participated. would like to pass on their thanks and appreciation to Daniel Morrison (Peregian G.C) Steve Hutchison (Twin Waters) Andrew Kenny (Pelican Waters) and Mark Brady (Noosa Springs - who are the respective Golf Directors and Managers of the host clubs) and their great teams for having their courses and facilities in excellent condition to host our Masters Championship and for making everyone feel welcome, it is always much appreciated and never taken for granted!
Again, we would like to thank those that volunteered as scorers and marshals, it really does make a huge difference to our Championship and it’s fair to say that would not be the great event it is without your input and support.
Once again, a huge thanks to Frank Schmidt for the massive amount of hard work he puts into the Tour and to Darren Gill for his fantastic support over the first three days, it was very much appreciated.
From the feedback that we have received, is that the big winners from our Junior Masters Championship is our juniors, their families and golf in general and isn’t that what we are all striving to achieve?

The Invincibles Tour believes and thinks that most would agree, that the main highlight was in the way the contestants, caddies and their families brought a fun and friendly atmosphere to the championship (despite the weather on day three) and the spirit in which the Championship was played, it was played hard, but fair and in the true spirit of the game.
The Tour would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to their above sponsors and supporters (Supporters Tab at top of page) for the tremendous support they give to junior golf and for helping us promote and develop the game of golf to all juniors wishing to enjoy their golf on the Sunshine Coast.
We believe it’s fair to say that The Invincibles Tour and its events, such as The Sunshine Coast Junior Masters, The Sunshine Coast Course Cup and Gold Cup of Cups Championship, The Invincibles Match – Play and their Inter – Club Team Shield play an integral part in the landscape of junior golf on the Sunshine Coast and South East Queensland, and that’s largely due to our supporters (above) and everyone pulling together as a team in the name of junior golf!
This is extremely pleasing to see and enormously satisfying to me and everyone involved!!! Thanks to Golf Queensland and the R&A, The Invincibles IGA Sunshine Coast Junior Masters Championship is acknowledged and endorsed by the R&A as a World Amateur Golf Ranked Event. |

One of the great positives that’s continued throughout 2019 in the committee’s mind, is the willingness of all parties to work together as a team including (Golf Australia, PGA Australia, LPGA, Junior Golf Queensland, our Zone and District Golf Associations and The Invincibles Tour).
Congratulations must also go to Baxter Smith (Bribie Island) and Lydia Shackell (Hervey Bay – pictured below) for winning the Nett Division of The Invincibles Junior Masters with rounds of 69-71-77-71=288 and 70-72-70-73=285 respectively!
The Tour would personally and on behalf of everyone extend our thanks and our appreciation to Frank Schmidt who does an absolutely brilliant job, and to all our volunteers who worked tirelessly with scoring, marshalling or in any way they could to make sure our Junior Masters ran smoothly and was a great success.
Many thanks to Neil Charkow (website1000) who works tirelessly behind the scenes to bring our website up to date, so we can stay well informed with what is happening on Tour “Your Tour”.

I personally find our junior golfers a pleasure to be associated with and The Tour would like to thank you all for striving to play your part in making sure your Junior Masters was a great success, and we look forward to making it an even greater success in 2020!
Many thanks for those that took the time to read the conditions of play and came to play accordingly.
The reason our conditions of play are so strict, is out of respect for our host clubs, our sponsors, our juniors, the game of golf and because we want our juniors (you) to experience the same experiences that the International Touring Professionals experience, which includes, dress code, pace of play and media and sponsors commitments to name a few, that are required of “Tour Professionals” when on tour, as we feel that this is as close as you’re going to get without experiencing the real thing!!!

From an Invincibles perspective: we know we speak for our members and their families, when we extend a special thanks and our appreciation to our sponsors and supporters (below) for the massive input and support they give to Junior Golf and The Invincibles Tour.
Their support helps us enormously with the promotion and development of Junior Golf on the Sunshine Coast which is something we don’t take for granted and very much appreciate.....
We would also like to make special mention of The Invincibles Committee who do an excellent job behind the scenes to make sure The Tour runs well, in particular Frank Schmidt, and Neil Charkow. They give their time so willingly to help at events, behind the scenes or with The Invincibles website in the hope of making sure that your golfing experience is just that much more enjoyable.
