If you’re in Queensland on holidays or a local that loves their golf, beaches, restaurants or just relaxing with friends, then you really can’t go past the beautifully presented and friendly hospitality that Twin Waters Golf Club and the Sunshine Coast has to offer.
The world-renowned Twin Waters Golf Club is situated right in the heart of the Sunshine Coast, a very casual five-minute drive north to the Sunshine Coast Airport.
If you haven’t visited the reformed and beautifully presented Twin Waters Golf Course (Queensland - Australia) or enjoyed a round of golf on their challenging par 72 layout, that's situated a comfortable sixty-minutes drive North of Brisbane, then you are really missing out on one of Queensland’s and the Sunshine Coasts most enjoyable experiences.

Given torrential rain, lightning, thunder, you name it, that South East Queensland experienced during the previous twenty-four hours, there is no doubting that it was a miracle that we got to play any golf at all, let alone seeing the 2020 IBF Classic recording a result, and what a result it was.
A result that Ian would have been enormously proud of and thrilled to be part of, but unfortunately due to being locked down in America due to Covid-19, he was unable to be at his Classic, but he did send his best wishes and congratulated the winners and everyone that participated and thanked everyone, including the parents and families for helping make his day such a great success, even against the odds.
To have everyone safely tucked away in the clubhouse as the storm rolled in was very satisfying, we certainly dodged a bullet and very, very lucky!
Everyone that was at Twin Waters appreciated just how lucky we were, particularly the very talented Lion Higo (Emerald Lakes) playing off +1 recorded a brilliant 67 – 68 nett to win the IBF Classic.
At one stage in the overall boys division, it looked as though the tradition was going to continue, with a play-off in the making between Yevin Samararatne (Royal Queensland) and Blaike Perkins (Pelican Waters) after both boys finishing with very respectable one under 71’s.
However, Andrew Park snuck in under everyone’s guard with an excellent 2 under par 70 to win by a shot.
This year, thanks to the support and generosity of Golf Australia, both the Boy and Girl winners of Ian’s Classic received an invitation into the final qualifying round of the Isuzu Queensland Open.
Both Lion and Andrew also received a $1000 scholarship to be used for accommodation and travel to a major event of their choosing.
The Tour would like to congratulate both Shyla Singh (Southport) and Andrew Park (Southport p1-2 below) for their outstanding performances in qualifying for The 2021 Invincibles IGA Sunshine Coast Junior Masters Championships, that will be hosted by Peregian Golf Course, Twin Waters, Pelican Waters and Noosa Springs Golf & Spa Resort from the 26th to the 29th of September (TBC).
“Lion Higo will be ineligible for the 2021 Masters given she turns eighteen early next year!”
Lion Higo (Emerald lakes p1 below) won The Invincibles Course Cup with her 68 nett, which in turn qualified her for their Gold Cup of Cups Championship, that will be hosted by the magnificently manicured and presented Noosa Springs Golf and Spa Resort, Sunday the 29th of November, followed immediately by The Invincibles Presentation Dinner.
Given that we have lost quite a few of our events in 2020 due to Covid-19 and given that Tiyara Samararatne also finished with 68 nett, it was decided that Tiyara would also receive and invitation into the Gold cup of Cups in November.
The Invincibles Inter-Club Team shield points went to Maroochy River, who earned four point for coming first, Royal Queensland was second to receive 2 points and Pelican Waters came in third to collect 1 point, with only three points seperating all three teams.
The Invincibles Tour, their members and everyone associated with the Tour would like to congratulate young twelve year old Ethan Singh (Southport p5 below) for his outstanding “Hole in One” that he achieved with his trusted 4 wood on the 150m par three seventh hole at twin Waters, to of everyone delight in his group, particularly his dad who knew it was going in as he watched the ball fly through the air.
I was so happy Eshan said. It felt so good taking the ball out of the hole and writing a “1” on my card, I was so excited, very happy.
But just to add insult into the wound of 99 percent of golfer world-wide, who have never had this experience’ at the ripe old age of twelve, this is Ethan’s second hole in one!
Just doesn’t seem fair, does it?
Their support and commitment to Junior Golf throughout South East Queensland is a major reason why The Invincibles Tour has the enviable reputation it has, and that is something we don’t take for granted and would like to build on in years to come.
The Invincibles Tour on behalf of their members, families and guests, would also like to pass on their thanks and appreciation to Steve Hutchison (Manager – Twin Waters) along with his great team in Dom, Jacob (Pro Shop) James and Shelly (Bar) and Olivia and Melissa (Chef’s) for hosting what was a magnificent day against the odds, but most importantly for making everyone feel so welcome.
Highlights on the day included: Witnessing James Riseley’s eagle on four followed by a birdie on five, Ionna Muir’s brilliant eagle on five from 90m out, Norika Wakayama’s incredible drive and second shot twenty metre’s through the green on the long par five 18th, Yevin Samararatne’s approach and putt for birdie on 18, Hilmi Fahim’s 7m putt on 18, Tom Hutchison chip in on 17 for birdie, Tiyara Samararatne’s chip to 18 for par, Yutaro Matsushita and Lilly Surasen’s approaches to eighteen to set up their birdies, which were just a few of the many, many highlights during the day!
The Tour would like to thank those that took the time to pass on highlights and photographs of the day, and request that if you do happen to witness any positive news in relations to our juniors, whether it be at a junior event or not, please text it through to Graeme on 0417 783 848 so we can all enjoy the moment.
This is important for a couple of reasons, not the least being is that if we don’t know, we cannot consider them for special awards or acknowledgements!
So, if you could please help us with this, it would be much appreciated.
A full list of results can be found on The Invincibles App and the Gallery will be posted shortly, so please keep an eye on The Invincibles website.
From an Invincibles perspective: we know we speak for our members and their families, when we extend a special thanks and our appreciation to our sponsors and supporters (below) for the massive input and support they give to Junior Golf and The Invincibles Tour.
Their support helps us enormously with the promotion and development of Junior Golf on the Sunshine Coast which is something we don’t take for granted and very much appreciate.....
We would also like to make special mention of The Invincibles Committee who do an excellent job behind the scenes to make sure The Tour runs well, in particular Joss Quirk, Frank Schmidt, and Neil Charkow. They give their time so willingly to help at events, behind the scenes or with The Invincibles website in the hope of making sure that your golfing experience is just that much more enjoyable.
