Whilst Cameron Smith was on the other side of the world winning The Open during a heatwave in Europe, our juniors and their families were rising at 4.00am on a chilly morning preparing to contest the Pampling – Kirk Boys and Girls District Championships that was hosted by Bribie Island Golf Club where both Louis Robertson (Emerald Lakes) and Ionna Muir (Maroochy River) put in workman like performances to win their respective divisions with rounds of 79 and 74 respectively.

Adam Jansz (Pelican Waters) won the boys closed division with a gross 82!

Even though it was still a little damp under foot, given overnight rain, it was very surprising that only four juniors played to their handicap or better!

Both Sophie Thomsen and Adam Jansz (Pelican Waters - p1 below) qualified for The Invincibles 2022 IGA Sunshine Coast Junior Masters Championship, along with Louis Robertson (Emerald Lakes) which will be hosted by the very generous and supportive Peregian and Twin Waters Golf Clubs, along with the Noosa Springs Golf & Spa Resort, during the last week of the September school holidays (Sunday, September 25 to Wednesday, September 28, 2022).

Ionna and Mikayla Dyal (Royal Queensland) had already qualified at previous Tour events.

Given the Pampling / Kirk District Championship is run as a dual event by the Sunshine Coast Burnett Women’s Golf and The Sunshine Coast & South Burnett District Golf Associations, meant that there were two Course Cups presented, that went too Mikayla Dyal (Royal Queensland) 75nett, and Chase Rendell (Tin Can Bay) who finished with a fine 72nett.

Both Mikayla and Chase (p3-4 below) have in turn qualified for The Invincibles Gold Cup of Cups Championship to be hosted by the magnificent Noosa Springs Golf & Spa Resort on Sunday, November 20, followed immediately by The Invincibles Annual Junior Presentation Dinner.

The “Brett Martell” Invincibles Inter-Club Team shield points went to Maroochy River to earn them four points, Royal Queensland were second to earn two points, with Noosa Springs taking out third place to earn one point.

On behalf of The Invincibles Team and their members, we would like to thank the Bribie Island Golf Club for hosting a great day’s golf. To have their course in the condition it was, was a credit to everyone involved, particularly when you consider the wet weather we’ve experienced over the past few months.

The Tour would also like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the team in the office, the ground staff, caterers, and bar staff for not only putting on a wonderful day, but most importantly, for making everyone feel so welcome.

We would also like to thank Penny Smith for her input and feedback with recording scores and updating the laptop. Her support and input is very much appreciated.

We would also like to thank all parents for playing a huge part in making our Invincibles Tour events the great success they are!

Highlights included: Beth Bartholomaeus’s brilliant approach to 15, Jack Dopper’s brilliant putt on 12, Harry Malcolm’s unbelievable 10m putt and Harry Darr’s chip and putt to save par on 14, Grace Kelleher’s chip in on eleven from twenty meters to record her birdie, Bailey Ellis’s excellent tee shot on fourteen to set up an easy par, Rhys Cusack’s unbelievable 12m on fourteen for birdie, Alex Clark fantastic bunker shot on 14, Callum Misso’s up and down on fourteen to save par, Emily Eyles fantastic tee shot on fourteen to set up her birdie, and Lilly Surasen’s incredible eagle from 93 meters out on 11, which were just a few of the many highlights during what was a great day’s golf.

If you do happen to see or hear of anything special happening at one of our Invincibles events (or any event for that matter) please don’t sit on it, forward them through via text to Graeme (0417 783 848) so we can all enjoy the moment.
