After the disappointment of the IBF Classic being washed out at Twin Waters a week earlier it was great that we could combine the event with the Noosa Junior Classic on Sunday. Two young golfers who were particularly delighted with the outcome were the winners Shyla Singh (Southport) and Taj Egea (Brookwater), who worked hard to take out the combined Noosa/IBF Junior Classic Titles for 2022.

It was amazing to witness the teamwork and support from all parties involved, particularly Golf Australia, the PGA, Twin Waters, Ian Baker-Finch and, especially, Noosa Golf Club, to make sure we did not lose an important event from our calendar.
The talented duo of Shyla and Mikayla Dyal (Royal Queensland) finished tied on 72. That led to a sudden death playoff, which Shyla won with a birdie on the first play-off hole.
Not only are these two girls extremely talented, but they should be applauded for the way they play the game. Their attitude, skill and course management are something to be admired.
Like Shyla and Mikayla, Taj Egea (Brookwater) didn’t have everything his way and was pushed to the wire by the very talented Harrison Gomez (Royal Pines).
Both boys put in excellent performances to finish with rounds of 68 and 69 respectively.
They both played in the true spirit of the game. The win was particularly rewarding for Taj as Noosa was his home club before he and his family moved to Brisbane a few years ago. Taj’s dad Andrew was the teaching pro at Noosa before he was appointed head professional at Wolston Park in Brisbane.
As is generally the case on The Invincibles Tour, the friendships that were on display, along with the sportsmanship, create a fantastic atmosphere for everyone to enjoy their golf.
Outside the prizes provided by Noosa Golf Club, we thank Invincibles patron Ian Baker-Finch for providing two $1000 scholarships for Shyla and Taj, and $500 to Mikayla to go towards travel and accommodation to a major event of their choosing.
Shyla and Taj will also receive an exemption into the final qualifying round of the Queensland Open and an invitation to the Invincibles and Greg Norman Junior Masters Championship, as well as many other prizes.
Given that this event was a combined Noosa/IBF Classic, two girls and two boys qualify for the 2023 Masters Championship (TBC).
Shyla and Mikayla (p1 and 2 below) and Taj and Harrison Gomez (p3-4) qualified for The Invincibles IGA Sunshine Coast Junior Masters Championship, which will be hosted by the generous and supportive Peregian, Twin Waters and Pelican Waters golf clubs, along with Noosa Springs Golf & Spa Resort, during the last week of next year’s September school holidays (Sunday, September 24th to Wednesday, September 27th, 2023-TBC).

Joshua Bell (Noosa Springs, p1 below) won the Course Cup with an incredible 61 nett, but given his handicap was greater than the required 27, young Amy Coates from Noosa will take her place in the field at the magnificently presented Noosa Springs Golf & Spa Resort, on Sunday, November 20, followed immediately by The Invincibles Annual Junior Presentation Dinner.

The “Brett Martell” Invincibles Inter-Club Team Shield points went to Noosa Golf Club in a countback from Noosa Springs, after both finished on 196 points. Third place went to Caloundra on 210 points.
This means that without winning a point at Noosa, Maroochy River are the 2022 Shield champions.
On behalf of The Invincibles Team and their members we would like to thank the wonderful team at Noosa for hosting another fantastic day.
We also extend our thanks and appreciation to the team in the Pro Shop, office, the ground staff, caterers and bar staff for not only putting on a wonderful day, but, as is usually the case, for making everyone feel so welcome.
A special thanks to Lee Coghlan and Penny Smith for their very generous support in helping upload the results to our website and app, and for their incredible support throughout the day, particularly with scoring and results during presentations. Their input and feedback were invaluable and very much appreciated.
And a huge thanks to Frank for everything he does at events to help make things run smoothly and keep everyone up to date and well informed.
The 9-hole division saw Sam Wilson (Maroochy River - p1 below) win with an outstanding 34 off the shortened course, with Benjamin Cox taking second spot with an excellent 37.
The girl’s division saw Bethany Bartholomaeus (Cooroy -p3) win with 36 gross, from Zoe Escriva (Caloundra -p4) on 40.

From an Invincibles perspective, we would like to acknowledge Callaway Australia for their generous sponsorship and support of not only the IBF Classic, but The Invincibles Tour in general. It is fair to say none of this would be possible without their support, and the support of organisations like them.
Highlights included: Campbell Kerr’s approach to 17, Kirra St-Laurent’s chip in for birdie on 12, Ionna Muir’s chip in on 17 and approach shots for birdies on both the 17th and 18th holes. They were just a few of the many highlights during a great day’s golf.
If there is such a thing as a brilliant bogie, then it would have to have been Josh Bell’s on the eighteenth.
After wedging his drive (ball) up a tree on the left of the fairway, taking an unplayable, chipping out sideways, to play his approach from one hundred and fifty metre’s to within 150cm’s for a tap in bogie, was a magnificent bogie and one that he and his dad will remember for a long time.
If you do happen to see or hear of anything special happening at one of our Invincibles events (or any event for that matter) please don’t sit on it, forward details through via text to Graeme (0417 783 848) so we can all enjoy the moment.

Their support helps us enormously with the promotion and development of Junior Golf on the Sunshine Coast which is something we don’t take for granted and very much appreciate.....

We would also like to make special mention of The Invincibles Committee who do an excellent job behind the scenes to make sure The Tour runs well, in particular Joss Quirk, Frank Schmidt, and Neil Charkow. They give their time so willingly to help at events, behind the scenes or with The Invincibles website in the hope of making sure that your golfing experience is just that much more enjoyable.
