On a day that started out as a perfect winter’s day, a little overcast and just the slightest of breezes, where the team at Maroochy River Golf Club had their course and facilities set up magnificently to host not only their Junior Open, but also the prestigious Men’s and Women’s Golf Associations, Pampling / Kirk Championships, where we……………..

Witnessed a fantastic field of South-East Queensland’s finest junior golfers take to the fairways to test their games and hopefully qualify for some of the many championships (Invitations) that this Tournament had on offer.

Particularly for Billy Dowling (Surfers Paradise) Ionna Muir (Maroochy River) Caitlin Vanderkruk (Keperra) Emily Martin (Emerald Lakes) Jordan Speare (Pelican Waters) John YOON (Pacific) and Mary Golder (Dalby) who put in some outstanding performances.

To witness so many juniors taking part from a myriad of clubs throughout South-East Queensland was a sight to see and made for a great competition.

Given that in this case, two championships were joined together, The Invincibles decided to award dual invitations for both boys & girls into their IGA Sunshine Coast Junior Masters Championship.

In addition, two Course Cups and invitations into the Gold Cup of Cups Championship in November were awarded. All up, there was a lot on offer and plenty to play for, that made for a great day’s competition.

Caitlin Vanderkruk, Billy Dowling (p1-2 below) and Jordan Speare and John Yoon (p6) along with Mary Golder (p3) and Emily Martin (p4) qualified for The Invincibles 2021 IGA Sunshine Coast Junior Masters Championship, that will be hosted by the very generous and supportive Peregian and Twin Waters Golf Courses, and Noosa Springs Golf & Spa Resort during the last week of the September School holidays (Sunday the 26th, to Wednesday the 29th of September 2021).

Please note, given that Pelican Waters G C will be a nine-hole course whilst carrying out renovations (revamp) therefore Noosa Springs Golf Resort will be hosting the final two days of the championship.

The Tour would also like to make mention and thank Frank Schmidt for the enormous effort he puts in at events and behind the scene.

Highlights on the day included: the shots on display from the 4 hole groups, Ionna Muir & Mary Golder driving the par 4, 6th hole that set up eagle for Ionna, Nathan Jackson’s eagle on the 6th, Jordan Spear’s seventeen foot putt for birdie on the 8th, Coco Moore’s birdie on 2 and approach to 7, Ellianna’s chip in on 5, 11 and 17, Lilly Surasen’s birdies on 10-15 and Marley Habermann and Jade Escriva’s birdies on 6, which were just a few of the many, many highlights during the day.

Another major highlight: was Caitlin Vanderkruk’s eagle on the par 5 - 7th. After going into the bunker off the tee, then playing out to 100m from the green, to then hole out for her eagle was a magnificent effort.
